How to get to Carré | Parking

Royal Theater Carré is situated in the centre of Amsterdam and easy to reach by car or public transport.

However, the city hosts a large number of events during the year which can mean some roads are closed. You can check for events on the Amsterdam council website www.iamsterdam.com.

CAR

From The Hague and Utrecht
Take the A10 ring road and turn off at junction S112, direction Centrum. At the roundabout, take the Centrum turn-off. You are now on the Wibaustraat. Continue along this road to a large square, the Rhijnspoortplein.

Straight ahead at the traffic lights  – the Amstel Hotel is on your left – and turn left st the first real street. There is a white sign with red letters directing you to Carré. You are now driving along the Nieuwe Achtergracht at the back of Carré.

From Alkmaar
Take the A10 ring road and turn off at junction S116, direction Centrrum. After the IJ tunnel, continue straight ahead, direction Centrum.

At the roundabout (Mr Visserplein), take the second junction (Weesperstraat). Continue along this road to a large square, the Rhijnspoortplein.

Take the right-hand lane on to the Mauritskade. Once across the river Amstel, take the first turning right (Oosteinde).

At the end of this street, turn right and recross the river Amstel. Immediately after the bridge, turn left on to the Amstel. Carré is at number 115-125.

PARKING

Carré has a special arrangement with a number of parking garages in the area to save you looking for a parking place. These garages are exclusively for the use of visitors to Carré and are no more than two minutes walk away from the theatre.

The Waterlooplein parking garage is at Valkenburgerstraat 238, 1011ND Amsterdam.

Taxi and water taxi
The closest taxi stand is on the Frederiksplein, about four minutes walk from Carré. You can ask the theatre doorman to ring for a taxi after the show. Water taxis moor opposite Carré’s main entrance.

Public transport
From the railway stations Amsterdam CS and Amsterdam Amstel trams and metros take you to Carré in fifteen minutes. For both trams and metros the stop for Carré is Weesperplein. From Amsterdam CS all metros stop at Weesperplein.
